482 differently-abled from Gujarat participate in Narayan Seva Sansthan’s free camp

Surat, February 25: A free medical camp for surgery screening, selection and measurement for Narayan Limb and callipers was organised in Surat under the aegis of Narayan Seva Sansthan, Udaipur, Shri Shantaben Tribhuvandas Patel Charitable Trust, and TM Patel International School on Sunday.

Surat MP and Chief Guest, Mukesh Dalal, Udhna MLA and Guest of Honour Manubhai Patel, organiser Harish Patel, Narayan Seva Sansthan Director Vandana Agrawal, Trustee Devendra Chaubisa, Patron Shravan Kumar Agrawal, Trustee of Shri Shantaben Tribhuvandas Patel Charitable Trust Dharmendra Patel, and social worker Mansukh Dhaduk inaugurated the camp by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Addressing the differently-abled individuals, who had travelled from Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, MP Mukesh Dalal praised Narayan Seva Sansthan for its commendable service. He expressed gratitude towards the organisation’s President Prashant Agrawal and Director Vandana Agrawal for their continued efforts in supporting differently-abled individuals. He commended the organisation’s invaluable contributions to both society and the government and promised his commitment to supporting Narayan Seva Sansthan in launching new projects for the health and welfare of differently-abled individuals across Gujarat.

Mukesh Dalal emphasised that the institution’s initiatives for the physical, social, economic and intellectual empowerment of differently-abled individuals are exemplary and beneficial to society. He added that he was honoured to be part of the camp.

During their visit, the Surat MP and other dignitaries interacted with the camp’s beneficiaries, listened to their experiences, and observed the treatment and assistance process.

A beneficiary of Narayan Seva Sansthan’s artificial limb, Jahnavi, expressed her happiness and performed a dance to the song “Sandese Aate Hain… Humein Tadpate Hain”.

Earlier, Trustee and Director Vandana Agrawal welcomed the guests and spoke about the institution’s services, including free surgeries, Narayan Limb fittings, providing daily meals to 5,000 people, running the Narayan Children’s Academy for 600 children of underprivileged labourers, computer training, mobile repair, sewing, and henna application for differently-abled individuals, and organising mass weddings for them.

TM International School Chairman Harish Patel delivered the welcome speech. Trustee and Director Devendra Chaubisa said that over 480 beneficiaries, including children, adults and elderly citizens, benefitted from the camp.

Releasing the camp’s report card, Camp and Surat Branch In-charge Achal Singh Bhati, said that 482 differently-abled individuals were examined by the doctors and prosthetics team at the camp. Measurements were taken for 282 people for Narayan Limbs (hands and legs) and 80 individuals for callipers. Eighty-eight patients were selected for free surgery. He announced that selected individuals would receive their custom Narayan Limbs in Surat in two to three months after casting and measurement. These limbs, manufactured by Narayan Seva Sansthan, are lightweight, durable and of high quality. The event was hosted by Aishwarya Trivedi, with 40 members of Narayan Seva’s team and 50 local volunteers offering free service.

Since 1985, Narayan Seva Sansthan has been working with the spirit of Nara Seva, Narayan Seva (Serving humanity is serving God). The organisation’s founder, Kailash Manav, has been honoured with the Padma Shri award by the President of India for his humanitarian service. President Prashant Agrawal has helped integrate lakhs of differently-abled individuals into the mainstream through medical aid, education, skill development and sports academies, making them physically, mentally and economically self-sufficient. In 2023, he was honoured with the Presidential Award.

So far, the institution has fitted over 40,000 artificial limbs. Narayan Seva Sansthan aims to provide free artificial limbs to lakhs of differently-abled individuals in Gujarat, helping them restart their lives. This initiative is expected to be made possible with the support of local donors.
