Company to deploy transportation for wildlife and mangrove conservation
Surat – Hazira, January 25, 2024: AM/NS Ports Hazira Limited, a subsidiary of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) donated two trucks to the Forest Department of Gujarat to support wildlife and mangrove protection efforts. The initiative aligns with AM/NS India’s commitment to environmental stewardship and its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals.
The trucks will enable officials with better access to mangrove plantation sites in the Dumas range sea area, besides facilitating conservation and monitoring activities.
Additionally, the vehicles will be instrumental in rescuing wild animals from residential areas.
The handover of the vehicles to the Forest Department took place in the presence of Mukesh Patel, Hon’ble Minister of State for Forest and Environment, Government of Gujarat, Sandeep Desai, Hon’ble, MLA, Choryasi, Dr. K Sasi Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests, Sachin Gupta, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests, Dr. Anand Kumar, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests and other government officials.
Senior officers from Government of Gujarat and members of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Mukesh Patel, Hon’ble Minister of State for Forest and Environment, Government of Gujarat said, “The government of Gujarat is committed to the conservation of the environment and forests. We welcome the support of leading corporates like AM/NS India in further enhancing our activities in this direction.
He also appreciated AM/NS India’s initiatives for Skill Development & Employment from local communities. He categorically highlighted AM/NS India’s efforts to provide training to local women and making them ready to take roles traditionally held be men like Crane Operators, Safety Marshalls etc.”
