Civet Rangers; Apollo Cancer Crusaders; Devpixel Devils & Team Mysa qualify for Quarter Finals at the Sreenidhi University Telangana Premier Golf League 2021!

Hyderabad, 4th October 2021: The Fifth and final qualifying round of the SREENIDHI UNIVERSITY TELANGANA PREMIER GOLF LEAGUE 2021, was held on Saturday, October 2nd 2021 at the Hyderabad Golf Association golf course. The league sponsored by Sreenidhi University and powered by Magnifiq Securities, HDFC and NMDC; has 5 qualifying Rounds in the league stage. The two teams qualifying from each division play in the 3 Rounds of Knock out/playoff matches of Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals.

The fifth and final qualifying round was played in Singles format on Saturday October 2nd & Sunday October 3rd, where 64 golfers from 8 teams teeing off in the morning session at 6.20 am and another 64 golfers from 8 teams teeing off at 11.10 am in the afternoon session. Due it being the final qualifying round, all the teams competed intensely giving no quarter to their opponents. So intense was the competition that all the rounds could not be finished on Saturday and got spilt over to Sunday.

The fifth round is the final qualifying round where top two teams from each group qualify for the quarter finals. Out of the total 16 teams that competed in the qualifying rounds, 8 teams ie. two from each group qualify for the quarter finals. After completion of all the qualifying rounds the following teams made it to the quarter finals which would be played on Tuesday October 5thar HGA.

The final round saw some intense and phenomenal golf. Civet Rangers (Group A, 41 points; Apollo Cancer Crusaders (Group B, 42.5 points); Devpixel Devils (Group C 41 points, points) & Team Mysa (Group D, 42.5 points) emerged as the leaders in their respective groups and qualified for the quarter finals. They were followed by Classic Champs (Group A, 37 points) Sreenidhi Thunderbolts (Group B, 35 points); Villaggio Highlanders (Group C 40.5, points) and Glendale Golfers (Group C 41, points who came second in their respective groups, thereby qualifying for the quarter finals.

Civet Rangers came top of Group A with stellar performances from their Captain Sreedhar Reddy, Mr. Ram Mohan & A.V.Ramana Reddy winning all their matches and bagging  all 3 points each.  Classic Champs came second in the group with a great game by their Captain, Shashidhar Reddy, who won all his three matches, 7&5, 6&5 & 2&1 bagging all three points while Venkat & Manoj bagged two points each with their wins.

Apollo Cancer Crusaders cruise to victory in Group B with stellar performances from team owner Dr.Vijay Anand who once again repeats his 3 match win in singles, along with similar performances by Bushan Byragani and Sanjay Pulla Reddy. The team captain, Ashok Reddy, who always seems to end up with tough opponents showed his match play abilities by winning 2.5 points. Showing great team spirit, the non-playing team members Neha, Vikram, and DSN Raju came to cheer the teammates in their dazzling green uniforms.

Sreenidhian Thunderbolts completed an epic comeback in the final round to advance to the quarter finals in Group B. Lokesh Jayswal and Sankeerth Nidadavolu delivered stellar performances and secured 3 points each for the team. The nail-biting finish was seen through by Vijay Kumar as he secured the crucial final 2 points for the team on the final hole.

DevPixel Devils stuck to its script of putting up a spirited defence of it’s position at the top of the Group C after. It was a team effort with everyone contributing to the points table, with Ranadhir Reddy winning all his matches and bagging 3 points followed by Srinath Kottam, Ramana & Ashish with 2 points each. DevPixel Devils owner Abhishek Reddy commenting on the win said that the team is now a cohesive unit that is thinking and moving as one, we are happy to be peaking at the right moment, before we get to the quarter finals.

Villagio Highlanders of Group C, today charged the course & qualified for the quarter finals with top performance from Vivek Verma & Sanjay Chowdhury bagging all 3 points, while  Captain Sameer Azad Mahendra had a nail biting finish with all the 3 players on the second last hole bagging 2.5 points followed by Sanjay Diwakar & Pardhasarati with two points each.

Team Mysa continued with its lead in Group D, that they established in the first round itself and qualified for the quarter finals. Captain Madhav Kota continued with his stellar performance winning all his three matches. Vasu Merugu also won all his three matches bagging 3 points while teammates Naveen Gullapalli & Abhijay Jaiswal bagged 2 points each.

Glendale Golfers of Group D, put up another clinical performance to earn 15 points today and get through to Quarter finals.  Ahmed, Narahari Varma and Rajender Gaddam won all their matches and got 3 points each. Team mates C.S.Rama Rao and Nageswara Rao got 2 points each after some rear-guard action while Venkat chipped in with 1  point.
