Country’s first vocational skills university is also placed 12th among all private universities in Gujarat and 15th in the West Zone.
TeamLease Skills University (TLSU), India’s first vocational skills university, was ranked 110th in India among all State Private Universities as per the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework 2022 (IIRF 2022). The rankings were released in a special issue of Education Post Vol IX Issue 11
TLSU, a torchbearer for Skill based and work-integrated learning programmes, was ranked No 2 amongst the State Private Universities listed from Vadodara, 12th among all State Private Universities in Gujarat and 15th in the West Zone.
The University that has so far trained more than 150000 individuals to help address the demand-supply gap had an overall index score of 849.06
The IIRF Ranking is based on seven crucial parameters: Placement Performance, Teaching Learning Resources & Pedagogy, Research ( Volume, Income and Reputation), Industry Income and Integration, Placement Strategies & Support, Future Orientation and External Perception & International Outlook.
Speaking about the achievement, Dr Avani Umatt, Provost, TLSU said the varsity’s initiatives are aimed at giving students not only an education but ensuring their employability as well.
“We have always emphasised on making students job-ready and our industry partnerships and teaching methodologies are directed towards an outcome that benefits all stakeholders and the rankings reflect our commitment,” said Dr Umatt.

TeamLease Skills University (TLSU), Vadodara established under Public-Private-Partnership with the Government of Gujarat (Gazette Notification (Gujarat Act No. 18 of 2013) under Gujarat Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2013 with effect from 22nd April 2013), is India’s first Vocational Skills University and the only University to be located within an ITI campus. Each degree student is taught ‘Entrepreneurship Skills and Applications’ for at least one semester to ensure holistic exposure for better career opportunities.
