AM/NS India’s Academy for Skill Development launches
B.Sc Steel Technology, B.Sc Renewable Energy, and PG Diploma in Steel Technology.
Hazira, Surat, 30 July 2022: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS India), the joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, has partnered with Kaushalya – The Skill University, an initiative of the government of Gujarat, to run three integrated courses.
AM/NS India’s Academy for Skill Development at Hazira will offer B.Sc Steel Technology, B.Sc Renewable Energy, and Post Graduate Diploma in Steel Technology in partnership with Kaushalya – The Skill University.
Zankhana Patel, MLA from Choryasi seat, was present at Hazira, while Dr. Anju Sharma, Principal Secretary of Labour, Skill Development, and Employment Department attended virtually.
Minister of State for Skill Development and Employment Minister Brijesh Merja launched the three courses virtually.

Let us all contribute to achieving Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi’s mantra of skill plus zeal equals will, by touching new heights in the field of skill development. I extend my best wishes and am confident that the work done in skill development in Gujarat will be recognised around the world,” he said on the occasion.
Minister of State for Agriculture, Energy and Petrochemicals Mukesh Patel, who was present at Hazira for the launch, said, “The industries in Hazira are committed to the growth of villages in the area. The industries extended their wholehearted support in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic not just in Surat, but across the state and country. I am happy that the companies are also giving job opportunities to local candidates. I congratulate AM/NS India for this initiative. I am confident that it will help youths from Gujarat, especially Hazira and Surat, in charting their careers.”
“The launch of dedicated degree courses in the steel industry and renewable energy in partnership with Kaushalya – The Skill University will enable us to provide holistic learning to young candidates with a blend of classroom teaching and practical training at the Academy for Skill Development. It is a reiteration of our commitment to ensuring the availability of a skilled workforce for steel and renewable energy, the two sectors in which we are making large investments in. The launch of the courses will also allow us to train more youths from the local communities. We look forward to further strengthening our relations with the university to contribute further to the mission of Skill India,” said Dr. Anil Matoo, Head, HR Operations, IR, and Administration at AM/NS India.
The Academy for Skill Development, which is primarily engaged in the training, development, and up-skilling of diploma engineers, will train more than 300 students per year. It will provide all the theoretical and practical training facilities to candidates, deploy experienced faculty for imparting the training, provide necessary resources for the functioning of the institute, arrange for on the job training, and also support in placing the candidates.
