Ahmedabad: Global Indian Institute School (GIIS), Ahmedabad celebrated 75th year of Independence with full zeal and zest. Decked up in traditional attire and proudly holding the Tricolour, the school children stood in a formation that made up the number 75, depicting the number of years since India’s Independence, to represent ‘75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.
During this programme, the students of Grade 1 & 2 were taught about national symbols of the country including the State Emblem, Ashoka Chakra in the middle of Tiranga etc. The students were also informed about the importance of 75th Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Similarly, the students of Grade 3, 4 & 5, during the assembly session, sang the song—‘Saare Jahan se Achha’ whose lyrics were shared to the students in advance by the teachers. Besides, the students of Grade 4 participated in a creative writing assembly.
For secondary classes from Grade 6 to 8, the students participated in patriotic song competition in which the students showcased their patriotic feelings by singing songs like – ‘hai preet jahan ki reet sada, kar chale hum fida, ae avatan mere abaad rahe tu and many more.
The programme was very much heart rending as the performance of the students was excellent. The school teachers also contributed their best in preparing students for this event. The lunch for them on the day of the celebrations included food that reflected the colours of the Tricolour.
The Principal of the school, Caesar D’silva said the Independence Day celebration at GIIS not only commemorates India’s hard-won freedom but also reiterates our duty towards our Motherland. “The celebrations reaffirm our commitment to our country and pay homage to every Indian who fought to win India its freedom,” said D’silva.
