50+ training and placement officers attend AM/NS India’s Catalyst Meet

Hazira-Surat: In sync with its commitment to strengthening academia-industry partnership to meet the need for skilled human capital, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS India) hosted a Catalyst Meet with training and placement officers from across the country on Thursday.

The Catalyst Meet 2023 was hosted by AM/NS India’s Academy for Skill Development, which is affiliated with the state government’s Kaushalya – The Skill University at Hazira. More than 50 training and placement officers participated in the meet.

“Skilled manpower is the need of the hour across industries, especially in a sector like steel manufacturing. Engineering institutes play a crucial role in grooming young minds, building their knowledge, and developing their skills. The objective of the meet is to build a strong connection between AM/NS India as a leading steel manufacturer and top academic institutions for the exchange of ideas and to ensure that young engineers are equipped with industry-ready skills,” Dr Anil Matoo, Head of Human Resource Operations, IR, and Administration at AM/NS India said.

Dr. Matoo also spoke about the various human resources initiatives of AM/NS India and the learning opportunities provided to its employees to ensure their career growth. He expressed confidence that the meet would boost collaboration between the industry and engineering institutes and build a strong talent pipeline.

The Catalyst Meet provided the training and placement officers an opportunity to understand AM/NS India, its products, plant overview, scale of operations, HR practices, learning and development programs, training opportunities, career growth opportunities, and other facilities provided to employees.

The participants shared their experiences at the meet and said they looked forward to working closely with AM/NS India to ensure industry-ready professionals. The Catalyst Meet was a successful one with positive feedback from all participants.

AMNS India’s Academy for Skill Development offers various integrated courses including Bachelor’s in Steel Technology, Bachelor’s in Renewable Energy, and PG Diploma in Steel Technology. It also offers work integrated B. Tech and MBA in Manufacturing Management in tie-up with BITS Pilani and M Tech. in Steel Technology and PhD.  Program in tie-up with IIT Bombay.

AM/NS India is a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, two of the world’s leading steelmakers.
