30,000 blankets to be distributed across 8 districts in the state by ReNew power employees in partnership with local authorities
Ahmedabad, India, December 26, 2022: ReNew Power, India’s leading renewable energy company, launched the 8th edition of its ‘Gift Warmth’ campaign. Through the initiative, the company will distribute 300,000 blankets across ten states including Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Karnataka. The ambitious drive flags off in December 2022 and will continue all through January 2023. Of these, a total of 30,000 blankets will be distributed in 8 districts across the state including Ahmedabad, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Patan, Rajkot, Surendranagar, and Dwarka
This year’s campaign target is a significant increase from its previous edition, when the company distributed around 220,000 blankets. Gift Warmth was initiated in 2015 to help the disenfranchised, homeless populace in India battle the harsh winters. The distribution process will be undertaken at ReNew Power’s wind and solar plants where ReNew employees will collaborate with district officials who will identify the beneficiaries covering the targeted districts. The campaign will be flagged off through a ceremonial launch at the district level followed by distribution at tehsil and village level around the carefully chosen locations. The drive directly helps small scale businesses from whom the blankets have been sourced thereby helping the local economy. The blankets will be distributed during night drives along with donations to shelters by the company’s employees.
Sharing her enthusiasm surrounding the campaign, Vaishali Nigam Sinha, Chief Sustainability Officer, ReNew Power said, “Giving back to communities in need has always been a goal for the us at ReNew and we are proud to usher in the eighth, successful edition of Gift Warmth. Winters are harsh in certain regions of our country affecting a multitude of people each year who hail from the weakest sections of our society. We need to realize that this is a direct effect of climate change where we are witnessing shorter but severe winters. We are proud of our employees who have passionately engaged with this initiative and will work on ground with local authorities to help as many people as they can. In the upcoming editions, we further plan to scale our distribution numbers and encourage other corporations to undertake similar campaigns and lend a helping hand to our fellow citizens.”
Through Gift Warmth, ReNew Power aims to reach 1 million people by 2024 and is inviting contributions from other corporates and institutions willing to participate in the drive through donations at www.renewfoundation.in.
