GIIS Ahmedabad is observing Good Citizenship Week from 20th to 24th February 2023

“No one is born a good citizen, a good democrat, or a good leader; it takes time and education!” – Kofi Anan.

Ahmedabad: GIIS Ahmedabad marked ‘Good Citizenship Week’ with various informative and engaging activities for the GMP segment. They were educated on the characteristics of a good citizen, such as respecting others and their property, being honest and trustworthy, adhering to school rules, and learning how to respect school property and provide the best service to the community. Young minds were educated on the characteristics of a good citizen, such as respecting elders and family members, being honest and trustworthy, and being respectful. They also learned the value of being responsible and providing the best possible service to the community.

Throughout the week-long celebration, teachers shared information and explained the meaning of ‘Good Citizenship Week’ and the characteristics and qualities of good citizens. They showed excellent presentations and videos to help students understand these characteristics. The children absorbed the values through insightful and meaningful activities and were completely immersed in them.

Through various examples and story narration, the children learned about the quality of respecting everyone. On day One, the teachers explained what citizenship is, the characteristics of citizenship, and its qualities. With the help of PPTs and other presentations, the kids were taught how to imbibe the same. On day Two, the teachers explained the traffic rules. How to learn the rules and abide by them even when no one is looking. The teachers explained why the laws are’ safe’. To share is to spread happiness. Sharing is another vital skill that comes in handy when children play and learn with other children, society, and the community. This was explained on day three. On day four, the teachers made them understand that being generous will benefit both you and others. One of the unexpected by-products of generosity is that the giver benefits from the gift and the recipient. The children actively participated in the week-long programme with enthusiasm.

The kids of GMP Segment showed their generosity by distributing stationery items such as books, pen-pencil sets, colours, etc., under the ‘Stationery Contribution Drive’ for the students of the Municipal School. Caesar D’Silva, Principal, congratulated the GIIS Ahmedabad Team on developing an excellent plan for instilling good values in future citizens. This was a fantastic week of discovering and honing the skills necessary for children to become global citizens.
