AM/NS India’s Hazira facility awarded prestigious Ispat Suraksha Puraskar

Hazira-Surat : ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture of ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, two of the largest steel manufacturers in the world, has received the prestigious national-level “Ispat Suraksha Puraskar”.

AM/NS India has been recognised with the award for its achievement of ‘no fatal accident’ during the calendar years 2020 & 2021 and 2021 & 2022 by the Joint Committee on Safety, Health & Environment in the Steel Industry (JCSSI). AM/NS India has been judged as the best steel plant in the Integrated Steel Plant category for its safety performance for the seventh consecutive year.

Four zones of AM/NS India, Hazira, 1) Coal, Coke & Chemical Zone, 2) Rolling Mills Zone, 3) Blast Furnaces, Slag Granulation Plant, Sinter Plants & Raw Material Zone, and 4) Steel Melting Shops, Continuous Casting Shops Zone, have been honoured with the Ispat Suraksha Puraskar for the years 2020 & 2021, 2021 & 2022.

The JCSSI is a unique national-level forum of management and trade union representatives from both public and private sector steel companies. The committee was established with the primary objective of safeguarding valuable human resources against possible hazards in the steel industry. JCSSI instituted the “Ispat Suraksha Puraskar” to recognise the safety performance of plants, specific operational zones and mines/collieries that have been free of any fatal accident during a given time period.
