Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India promotes Road Safety Awareness Campaign in Saputara, Gujarat

Over 2900 school students and staff members empowered with road safety education

Saputara, 13th February 2025: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) continues its efforts to build a safer road environment by organizing a road safety awareness campaign in Saputara, Gujarat. Through this initiative, over 2900 students and staff members from Eklavy Model Residential School, Kanya Saksharta Nivasi Shala and PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya gained valuable insights into responsible road behavior among young individuals, equipping them with essential knowledge to navigate road safety.

Recognizing the importance of early road safety education among youth, HMSI designed this campaign to go beyond awareness and encourage a long-term shift towards safer practices. Early exposure to safe riding habits helps students become conscious road users, influencing their families and communities to adopt safer practices. By regularly engaging with schools, colleges and institutions —both government and non-government—HMSI is fostering a culture where road safety becomes second nature to the next generation, shaping a safer future for all.

The Saputara campaign featured a variety of interactive activities designed to ensure that road safety education is both engaging and informative. Participants engaged in safety riding lessons, danger prediction training, road safety quizzes, games, helmet awareness and riding trainer sessions. These activities were designed to not only emphasize the importance of road safety but also to create lasting impressions, ensuring that participants carry these lessons with them in their daily lives.

HMSI expressed gratitude to Eklavy Model Residential School, Kanya Saksharta Nivasi Shala and PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya for its support in organizing this campaign and making it a success. This active participation has been key in reaching out to over 2900 students and staff members, emphasizing the collective goal of promoting responsible road behavior. This partnership highlights the importance of working collectively with the institutions to build safer and more informed communities.

Through its ongoing road safety initiatives, HMSI has reached nearly 3 lakh adults and children across Gujarat, equipping them with practical knowledge to make responsible choices on the road. The Gujarat campaign marks another important milestone in HMSI’s efforts to create a lasting impact on road safety and encourage safer driving and riding habits for all.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India’s CSR commitment towards Road Safety:

In 2021, Honda announced its global vision statement for the year 2050 where it will strive for zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles. In India HMSI is working in line with this vision and the Government of India direction of reducing fatalities to half by 2030.

One critical aspect of achieving this goal is developing a positive mindset towards road safety in our children by the year 2030 and continuing to educate them thereafter. Road safety education at schools and colleges is not only to create awareness but to introduce a safety culture in young minds and transform them to be the road safety ambassadors. It empowers future generations to become responsible and significantly contribute to a safersociety.
