Ahwa: The most forested district of Gujarat is located in the northernmost of the Western Ghat or Sahyadri Mountain range, which has been declared a Global Bio-Diversity Hotspot. To provide an invaluable opportunity to enjoy, understand and appreciate the beauty, unique biodiversity and intimate relationship of local people with the forest.
The North Dang Forest Division has organised the ‘Dang Nature Fest’. It aims to help local school and college students connect at a deeper level with these forests and their plant-animal life through a specially crafted 4-day experience and stay inside the Purna Wildlife Sanctuary.
North Dang Forest Division DCF Shri Dinesh Rabari said that, “Such an experience will give the future generations a glimpse of our precious natural heritage while creating interest and motivation for them to participate in its conservation”.
The Dang Nature Fest is being held under the guidance of Shri Dinesh Rabari, DCF – North Dang Forest Division. It will be coordinated and facilitated by Nature education experts Dr Pranav Trivedi and Ms Sangeetha Trivedi. Local staff of the Forest Department, invited resource persons and volunteers as well as local youth/nature guides will be involved in the conducting of this event, which will be held at Mahal Eco-Tourism Site from 1st to 8th February 2024 in two batches (1st to 4th and 5th to 8th February) for school and college students respectively.
Over 100 students and accompanying teachers from about 10 to 12 schools in Dang District and a similar number of colleges from Dang, Navsari and Tapi Districts will participate in the event.
