Adani Hazira Port Celebrated “International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction” on October 13th, 2023

Adani Hazira Port Limited recently commemorated the “International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction” on October 13th. Recognizing the significance of disaster risk reduction, AHPL organized a mock drill on the same day, simulating a scenario involving the release of toxic gases at the port.

The purpose of this exercise was to enhance the preparedness of all workers, colleagues, and contracted laborers in the face of potential catastrophes, thereby reducing the overall risk. Given that the release of poisonous gases poses the most critical threat to the port, the mock drill also served as an opportunity to identify any gaps in emergency response protocols. In the message of Mr. Niraj Bansal, CEO, said that “We are committed to maintaining a safe, healthy and environment friendly workplace for our employees, associates and contractual workmen and delivering safe operations that benefits everyone.”

The port incorporates the best global safety practices into our daily operations to create a safe place to work. Mr. Anand Marathe, the COO of AHPL, oversaw the drill as the chief observer. Mr. Aditya Abhishek Pandey, the Head of HSEF, served as an observer during the exercise. The Fire Safety and Occupational Health Centre Team, Security Team, and other relevant departments actively participated in the drill. Following its conclusion, the COO, Head of HSEF, and Head of LT Operation provided a comprehensive briefing on the positive aspects of the drill and areas for improvement.
