AM/NS India Football Cup kicks off

Hazira-Surat, 20 December 2022: The Football World Cup may be over, but football fever is just starting at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India).

The AM/NS India Football Cup 2022 got underway at AM/NS India township in Hazira, Surat, on Monday and will culminate on Saturday (December 24). The tournament was inaugurated on Monday evening by Dr. Anil Matoo, Head of Human Resource Operations, IR, and Administration at AM/NS India.

“AM/NS India is committed to the holistic growth and well-being of employees, and sports is an important aspect of it. I am confident that we will see some excellent football over the next six days and an excellent tournament. I extend my best wishes to all participants who have come to Hazira from across the country,” Dr. Matoo said on the occasion.

The AM/NS India Football Cup’s inaugural match was played between the teams of Heads of Departments.

Eleven teams from Hazira, Paradeep, Mumbai, Khopoli, Barbil, Vizag, Pune, and Dabuna, who have been divided into four groups, will face off in 16 matches, including the semifinals and finals.  A match has also been organised between two all-women teams on the final day of the tournament.
