Consulate General of Malaysia Organized Hari Raya Networking Reception

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Chennai organized a networking event in-conjunction with the end of fasting month of Ramadhan (Raya Open House) which was held at the Residence of Consul General of Malaysia in Chennai. The objective of the event is to network with the stakeholders of the Consulate and to foster closer relationship between all parties. The event was attended by more than 200 invitees from the diplomatic communities, businessman, Malaysian diaspora and also the staff of the Consulate and their families.

A Raya open house is when during the month of Syawal, which is also known as Hari Raya Puasa or Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Government agencies, corporate sectors and individuals will have open houses whereby they invite visitors of all religions, races, and cultures to come and visit them to their homes.The Raya open house is indeed a way to forge racial unity. This year, under the Malaysia Madani concept, Raya open house has been celebrated at the national and state level in Malaysia. It was also extended to the Malaysian Missions (Embassies and Consulate) all over the world.

The Consul General of Malaysia, Mr. Saravana Kumar Kumaravasagam during his welcoming speech elaborated on the concept of Malaysia Madani or Civil Malaysia whereby the Government of Malaysia under the leadership of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim focuses mainly on good governance, sustainable development and racial harmony in the country.

Attendees were served with traditional Malaysian cuisines such sate, lontong, rendang, ketupat, lemang, aiskacang and assorted Malay cookies. During the event, the Commercial Section of the Consulate General of Malaysia took the opportunity to promote business programme which will be held in Malaysia in September.

Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) is the Halal’s industry biggest platform and this year, Malaysia will host the event for the 19th edition. The 4 days event will take place from 12 – 15 September 2023. Among the components of MIHAS is exhibition, business meetings, seminar and products launching.

Businessman from India is invited to attend the event and to explore the opportunities available in the USD 5 trillion global halal industry. International Sourcing Programme (INSP), a b2b meetings will be organized between Malaysian suppliers of high-quality goods and services and also the international buyers. Indian companies are encouraged to participate in these 2 days pre-scheduled meetings and follow up meetings with the potential suppliers.
