From Garage Dreams to National Recognition: How Darkmatter® Is Powering India’s Drone Revolution

Howrah, West Bengal, [India] May 17, 2025: A small garage in Bally, Howrah, saw the beginning of Darkmatter®. It was a joint project of two childhood friends, Anik Bhattacharya and Arnava Chakraborty, who were chasing the bold dream of building India’s first homegrown electronics stack for drones from scratch. Their venture gained recognition without being supported by investors or sophisticated labs, purely based on passion and hard work.

At present, Drakmatter® has become the first brand to design and manufacture indigenous flight controllers and ESC stacks in India. These core components include their signature  Brahma F4 and Vishnu 50 stacks, to complete telemetry modules and drone frames. Darkmatter® supplies its electronics to the Indian Army, powers drones built by private manufacturers, and retails through major FPV platforms like Robu.in, Drkstore.in, and FPVStore.in. Every piece is crafted in-house, setting global standards from local soil.

Anik and Arnava’s innovation has won them many accolades. They’ve earned a Letter of Appreciation from the Ministry of Defence (MoD), won the Defence & Aerospace category at Startup Mahakumbh 2025, and have been featured by the Indian Chamber of Commerce as a startup to watch. Today, their tech powers drones used by the Indian Army and is stocked by leading retailers like Robu.in, drkstore.in, FPVStore.in and many more.

But beyond the tech, Darkmatter® is about community. Their products are trusted by drone builders, defence professionals, and startups alike – not through ads, but through word-of-mouth and real performance. They offer build guidance, open conversations, and a growing support ecosystem.

As Darkmatter® prepares to launch next-gen flight control systems, Anik and Arnava are proving something bigger: with belief, hard work, and heart, even a garage in Howrah can fuel India’s aerospace ambitions.
