FSSAI and Herbalife Collaborate to Present ‘Eat Right Millets Mela’ and Walkathon in Surat

In-Line with the Ongoing Eat Right Campaign, FSSAI and Herbalife Unite to Promote Safe and Healthy Eating Practices at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University

Surat, 23rd July-2023: With the motto of ‘Sahi bhojan, behtar jeevan’, FSSAI embarked on its Eat Right journey which has now grown to be a fruitful awareness initiative. As a part of the International Year of Millets announced at the United Nations General Assembly celebrated worldwide, FSSAI has been contributing through its Eat Right India initiative, Eat Right India programs like Eat Right Millet Mela and Walkathon have been conducted in different districts to encourage and guide citizens to include whole grains in their diet and this time it is to be organized in Surat, Gujarat.

Organized by FSSAI western region in association with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University supported by Herbalife, the events aims to sensitise the public to the valuable importance of millets on a regular basis. The main objective of the event is to spread the message of importance of millets in our daily lives along with its various health benefits. A Walkathon will be organised to take this initiative to next level and the authority invites citizens to walk and join hands in spreading the message Eat Right.

“We are witnessing an agricultural renaissance with the most ancient crop of the world becoming the present and the future crop,” quotes Mr. G. Kamala Vardhana Rao, Chief Executive Officer, FSSAI, setting the context for the Millet Walkathon and Mela.

We are extremely pleased to be part of this pan-India initiative which aims to create consumer awareness about eating safe and nutritious food. We have partnered with FSSAI to promote the Eat Right initiative and help people understand the importance of healthy eating for wholesome living. As part of the Swasth Bharat mission, we will continue supporting FSSAI in developing a holistic health system to address nutrition gaps in the country. We can change the citizens’ eating habits through such events and on-ground initiatives,” quotes Ajay Khanna, Senior Vice President & Managing Director of Herbalife India.

Prelude to this event, poster and slogan competitions were organised for academia with the theme of ‘Health benefits of Nutricereals’ at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat on 22nd July 2023. The students from various streams actively participated and displayed their creativity through impactful posters and slogans.

The Walkathon followed by Eat Right Millet Mela will serve as a valuable platform where different stalls will showcase food recipes prepared out of millets which are easy to make and can be incorporated in our daily lives and food habits, exhibitions, expert discussions, quiz, rangoli competition, recipe competition, poster making, slogan writing, cultural show, millet based fashion show, skit, traditional and folk dance will be the main attractions of the Mela.
