MoU to build academic excellence and R&D capacity

New Delhi: Centre of Bio-medical Research (CBMR), Lucknow, today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) for a partnership to establish academic connectivity and synergy of academic complementation and collaboration to build capacity in identified areas/faculties of research and development. This will lead to the award of the PhD degree in science and engineering.

The pact was signed by CBMR Director, DrAlokDhawan, and AcSIR Director, DrRajender Singh Sangwan. The ceremony was witnessed by MsArpitaSengupta, Senior Manager, AcSIR and Professor Neeraj Sinha, Dean, CBMR and DrBiswanathMaity, Assistant Professor, CBMR.

Centre of Bio-medical Research (CBMR) is an autonomous Centre established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh under the Department of Medical Education. It is solely dedicated to the identification of biomarkers and validating them both clinically and functionally. The state-of-the-art equipment at CBMR which include NMR (400, 600, 800 MHz – Solution and Solid State), 3T-fMRI, as well as the sophisticated analytical facility provides a platform for academia, and industry to ideate, collaborate and co-create.

The mandate of CBMR is to undertake aid, promote, develop, guide and coordinate basic, clinical and translational research. Furthermore, the mission of CBMR is to establish an enabling ecosystem for cutting edge interdisciplinary research and entrepreneurship leading to better patient care.

The Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR) is an Institution of national importance established by an Act of Parliament, with a view to maximizing the number of qualified researchers and professionals of impeccable quality in science. The Academy’s mandate is to create and train some of the best of tomorrow’s science and technology leaders through a combination of innovative and novel curricula, pedagogy, and evaluation.

At present, the Academy has 2,514 faculty members from CSIR Laboratories, 36 Adjunct faculty members, and around 5000 students enrolled in various programmes. CBMR is the first Institute in Uttar Pradesh to be recognized by AcSIR outside of the CSIR system. (India Science Wire)
