Surat, June 14, 2023 : Neel Nitesh Lathiya , a student of Aakash BYJU’s Surat’s Majura branch secures second rank in Gujarat & First rank in Surat with AIR 30 in NEET UG 30 and Megh Thakkar at second rank with AIR 194 in Surat. was always fascinated by the work of a Doctor seeing his father and wanted to follow in his footsteps. He aced NEET UG 2023 by scoring 710/705 out of 720 securing an AIR 30. He is also a city topper of Surat. Neel was competitive yet calm during his preparations and focused on scoring consistently in internal tests.

Neel joined Aakash BYJU’s via ANTHE in Class IX for the Foundation Course for two years. He always liked studying Biology and decided to pursue his goal of becoming a Doctor and joined NEET preparation course early in Class X. The classes were held online and had started before the board exams so he could complete his syllabus early on. His scores were around 600-650 on an average in Class XI. Gradually, he spoke to the teachers and analysed his errors to arrive at a strategy and started revising NCERT syllabus diligently. He scored 700 six months before NEET and thereafter never scored below 690 in any tests.

His father is a general surgeon and runs his own clinic, where Neel spent time as a child watching patients being treated, that inspired him. His mother is a housewife and his younger sister is currently in Class X. Neel received full support from his parents who never interfered with his studies. His father gave him practical advice and mother talks to him when he felt nervous about exams. Neel also cleared Level 1 of the National talent Search Examination (NTSE) in Class X but did not pursue it further as his sole focus was on becoming a Doctor.

Speaking about his study process, Neel says, “I have directly gave my first board in Class XII which was intimidating. But I had a good grasp on the syllabus and solved previous year papers which helped me gain confidence. Eventually I applied the same strategy to NEET preparation and started scoring above 690 in every test. The improvement was gradual and I am happy I could achieve it.”

He used the time to self-study and make notes on the chapters that seemed difficult to him. His teachers describe him as a mature individual, who never procrastinated on taking action about his performance indicators.

At Aakash, he liked interacting with other students to gather an idea of the competition he was facing. “I changed my strategy to focus more on NCERT and it gradually improved my scores. I discussed the errors with my batchmates which was helpful to identify weak areas.”

Neel loves watching Anime but he refrained from any distractions two months before NEET. He sometimes played video games on his computer to take his mind off studies and hung out with his friends from his building complex in the evenings. He is looking forward to travel with his family to Kashmir after the exams are over.

Congratulating Neel Nitesh, Mr. Abhishek Maheshwari, CEO, Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), said, “At Akash BYJUs we strive to help every potential child discover their true potential.
