Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dedicate and lay foundation stone of developmental works worth ₹2083 crore in Tapi, Narmada, Surat

Work related to widening of road between Statue of Unity to Saputara

Gandhinagar, 18 October 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit
to Gujarat from 19 October 2022. During this visit, he will dedicate various developmental
works worth ₹2083 crore for the people of the state.

He will inaugurate water supply schemes and works of Energy Petrochemicals
Department in South Gujarats Tapi, Narmada and Surat. Apart from that, the first phase of
development of necessary facilities will be started by widening the road connecting
Saputara to Statue of Unity.

Important works related to transport and tourism in Gujarat are being undertaken under the
leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Tourists visiting the Statue of Unity will get
better facilities and local employment will increase in the coming days.

On October 20, 2022, foundation stone for four schemes of the Water Supply

Department at a cost of ₹ 302 crore will be done Tapi and Narmada. Apart from that,
foundation stone of works of solar power projects and sub-station 6 will be done. 5 works
of the Department of Energy and Petrochemicals will be dedicated in Surat and Tapi.

In another important development, phase-1 of work related to the road

connecting Saputara to Statue of Unity will be started. The entire road will be completed at
a total cost of ₹1669 crore.
Tourists can connect with nature at Ukai Dam
Of the 237 km of distance between Saputara and the Statue of Unity, work

during phase-I will be carried out on 92 km of road. On the completion of this project,
tourists can enjoy various spots such as Saputara, Shabridham, Ukai Dam, Devmogra, and Zarwani Falls. This project will also generate employment opportunities for locals and develop better connectivity with villages bordering Maharashtra.

Transforming Tapi with Government’s support

The state government has made relentless efforts to ensure holistic development
of tribals and provide them with basic facilities. In phase-I of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala
Yojana, a total of 42,763 families in Tapi district have been given free gas connections.

Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), 7,401 beneficiaries have been allotted houses
in the district from 2016-22. The budget for social security has been raised from merely
₹65 crore in 2002 to ₹1,497 crore in 2022. Plans to start a dialysis centre at every
taluka level in Tapi district are in the pipeline.
