TeamLease Skills University (TLSU) observed Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26 to commemorate India’s war victory and pay tribute to Kargil Martyrs whose courage and sacrifice helped safeguard the country’s borders.
The staff and students of TLSU lighted candles and observed silence for two minutes as a mark of respect and remembrance for the Kargil heroes.
A documentary on Operation Vijay was also shown to the students to sensitise them on the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas. This was followed by the inspirational recitation of poems and patriotic songs by students.
Addressing the students, Prof. (Dr.) Avani Umatt, Provost of TeamLease Skills University spoke about the selfless service of Indian soldiers towards their motherland.
“Today’s youth need to be sensitive towards society. Every day when the media reports about the sacrifice of a soldier it not only affects one family but the community and nation as a whole,” said Dr Umatt.
She stressed the need for everyone to diligently perform their duty towards their family and country.
“The bravery and courage of our soldiers manning the country’s borders is what helps us live in peace and enjoy our lives,” said Dr Umatt.
She also emphasised the importance of patriotism and initiatives like Har Ghar Tiranga.
Prof. (Dr.) H C Trivedi, Registrar, TeamLease Skills University, and Head of Department and faculties of various departments including Information and Technology, Mechatronics, Commerce and Management, Hospitality and Tourism, Health Life and Applied Sciences and Life Skills were also present on the occasion.
The programme was organised by the NSS unit of TLSU in coordination with the Department of Life Skills.
In line with the initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, TLSU also participated in the Industrial Employment Job fair organised by the Department of Labour, Skill Development and Employment at TeamLease Skills University Auditorium.
